Part of what I was doing on my Rendo gallery was a series of images showing my progress in modding Posette. My goal was to have her bend as well as V3 and the other Millenium™ figures. And, overall, I succeeded. It took about six months to manage, fiddling with it in my spare time. Here are some of the images. Regretfully, I can't show many of them after "Black", simply because most of them were nudes.
This is the first image, "Red." There were some minor tweaks to her hip area, but really, the largest point of this image was to show where we started from. As you can see, Posette is blocky, and has several joint problems, but overall has a pleasing, athletic shape.
This was my second image, titled "Just Drink Your Guinness and Relax, Dear." It's intended as a humorous piece, but it shows the developments I had made in smoothing out her joints. It was also the first image in which I started to give Posette a personality. This was carried through in several other images in this series.
This one is titled "Blue." Here we see still further gradual improvement at the hips and knee.
This one is titled "Green." Here we see dramatic improvements to the inner thigh (though it's still far from perfect), and more improvements at the elbows.
Next is "White." Again, more improvements at hip, elbow and knee. However, by this time, the hip has actually reached the point where it now looks very realistic when bent, and both knees and elbows look much improved. This was accomplished by regrouping the mesh - which, though it worked great, also broke all her body morphs. I had to strip them out completely, and start again from scratch making the morphs she needed.
This next image is "Black." The primary point of this render is to show that her body morphs were now complete. Oddly, this image generated the MOST negative comments from viewers at Renderosity. Apparently, people there don't like muscle-girls. Fat girls seem to be fashionable, though.
Well, the negative comments annoyed the hell out of me. My reply was (paraphrasing) "Real women don't look like Victoria 3. And don't be surprised if I post a render of a 300-pound Posette to prove it."
Which leads us to the next image, "Objects In Mirror Are Not As Fat As They Appear." It's a bit comedic, a bit surrealistic, but hopefully thoroughly enjoyable. Again, Posette is presented as having a personality as a character, rather than simply being a model.
From here, I started posting a series of nudes to show the work I was doing on her body. To avoid compromising the TOS at ImageShack, well, we won't show them. But trust me, they were nice. Posette slowly improved from a blocky, chunky look to a smooth look that rivaled anything by V3 or V4. A common comment was "Holy S***! That's POSETTE?!" And the answer was "Yes, it is. =)"
Since I can't show you the pictures I had posted to Rendo during that time frame, instead, I've created two new pictures so you can see what she looks like when she bends.
As you can see from the above two images, Posette is dramatically improved. Her bending is now superior to V3, and in some areas (particularly the inner thigh when the knees are brought inwards) superior to V4.
Eventually, however, I reached a point where I posted this next render, "Silver." Silver represented a milestone in the character, in that I had not only finished the majority of the work on her body and her joints, but I had also finished work on a procedual material setting for her skin and lips. Note that the thumbnail below links to the original PNG image, it's rather large so you can see the detail. If you decide to click the image to look at the larger version and the image looks pixellated, click it for the 'full screen' version. PNG doesn't compress well at ImageShack.
And, finally, we end up at this image: Gold. It, too, is very large, so you can see the detail. If you decide to click the image to look at the larger version and the image looks pixellated, click it for the 'full screen' version. PNG doesn't compress well at ImageShack.
My modded Posette is now very comparable to the Victoria series in her level of realism, and superior in her bending ability. Moreover, she's a lot lighter on system resources than any of the 'Victoria' series is, or any of the G2 series.
And all it took was a willingness to do the work, and think "outside the box." ;D
