My DSLOA and Dungeon siege crashed on Vista...sigh... It was working fine up till the King's bishop. I have no idea what triggered the crash but no amount of re-install or DirectX upgrade of Vista latest patches is able to bring it back. Think I need to post a warning here that if you plan to start this "5 stars" adventure game, do it on Win XP system. Don't ever try this on Vista, you will LOSE ALL YOUR RUNES....

Hello all I'm new. Been playing mageworld since version 1.1
Nearly two months ago, now, I started again the SP of mageworld 3.0 (I only recently discovered there's a new update - grrr!).
I'm here to report a problem. A minor problem, to be sure, but something that may worry unaware players, nonetheless.
If you make an Enchanted Superior Heater shield, and if you use it for a few dozens of hours (therefore the problem can only occur in SP, and it takes lot of time -about 60 game hours- for it to become noticeable), eventually you're gonna suffer a degradation in performance every time someone strikes your shield, in combat.
The situation is doomed to get worse and worse, to the point that even a 1vs1 fight gets to slow your powerful rig to a _crawl_ (an extreme lag spike) every time your shield is touched. For the record, I'm using a Core2 Duo processor, 3.0 GHz. I still remember when I played the game on a Pentium 3, 1 GHz machine (years ago, now). the problem would manifest MUCH sooner, at about 17 hours into the SP game.
I have no clue as to what generates this, but I've done some research into it, and have concluded that it's related to the very instance of the shield you're using (why I didn't think of it before...). In point of fact, if you craft a *new* Enchanted Superior Heater, and equip it in place of the old one, the problem disappears immediately. But if you reequip the previous shield, the problem returns.
I know no solution for this, other than: ditch the old shield and make a new one when the lag gets annoying.
I've made extensive tests with other shields (included the Kite ones). The problem seem to occurs exclusively with the Enchanted Superior Heater. I believe the Defender property -peculiar of that shield alone- may have something to do with it.
Maybe Xaa will want to track down the bug and fix it. My best regards, to everyone.

110 hours and 1 minute. Score is 297411. I've completed the game Finally! Big thanks to Jim Farris for creating it. Side note: The last 50+ game hours have been spent in combat with sword and shield, and the shield was an Enchanted Superior Heater. The problem I mentioned earlier hasn't resurfaced in all this time. So unless it needs *more* time to do it again, I think I've found a permanent fix for it (there's to patch the dsres -as I did- though). Maybe Xaa wants to hear it? But he didn't answer to my last e-mail. I'll wait he reads this post.

Alas, my computer crashed and I lost everything - no problem, I'll just reinstall everything. Guess what - I cannot find the original mageworld file. No problem, I'll just download it again. Guess what, the link is expired and I cannot get my pooka fix. Can anyone help me with a working download link please?
