Everyone's all busy with DS2 now... I haven't even bothered to purchase DS2 yet. BUT, I don't do multi. My modem isn't up to it. Everyone except me, sorry. I am currently discovering the marvels of Poser. Did you know you can model characters, package them up for Poser, then sell the package? And people actually will buy it? No, seriously! People will take commercial characters like "Victoria 3" from DAZ3D, create a few new skins and some hair, package it up, and sell it for $50 a download. And it's entirely legal, it's permitted under the EULA for Poser and the EULA's for the characters. Even worse, people will make a belly-ring or a piece of jewelry in half an hour in MAX, convert it for Poser, then sell it for $5. Seriously! What people in the gaming community call "modding", in the Poser community call "creating content." And the content you create, you can sell. And people really do buy it. It's amazing. And don't even get me started on making clothes for characters. Just browse a bit over at DAZ3D or a couple of the other big sites, and you'll see what I mean. There's serious money to be made. We're talking like $20 for a skirt for a computer character in Poser who is literally nothing more than a collection of electrons. Some of the more rabid Poser fans will literally spend more money on clothes for their little electronic dolls than they spend on clothes for their kids. No, I am not kidding. The biggest problem in the Poser community is that everything is *expensive*. Even the program itself isn't cheap. Artists who produce free stuff are loved to death, but 1) a lot of free stuff is worth what you paid for it, and 2) hosting free stuff when even a pair of boots for your character is a 1-meg download gets pretty damn expensive on the bandwidth. The second largest problem in the Poser community is that there's almost no real information on HOW to make a character. I've figured it out, yes, but I had a lot of experience going into this. There are literally thousands of noobs who post on Poser message boards "How do I import my model into Poser?" and the usual reply is "Oh, just read a tutorial". But there *aren't* any. There are exactly two tutorials available in the community on creating characters, and of the two, one is worthless because when you follow the instructions, it doesn't work. Result: people who *can* make models for Poser make pretty decent money selling those models to people who can't. Oh, and in reference to free stuff being worth what you paid for it, DAZ3D has a freeware "poser-like" program you can download which allows you to create scenes, etc, etc. Want to be able to import characters and make it do everything else the real Poser program does? Fork over some cash for expansion plugins. Yep. That's how the Poser community works. Get the freebies, get hooked, then they lay out what all the good stuff will cost. It's like thousands of legalized electronic dope dealers. Except they're selling little electronic dolls and the clothes for the dolls. It's amazing. Oh, and the Poser community produces some fantastic art, too. I don't know if I'll sell anything I make for Poser - probably not. But, either way, I figure I'll work on Poser characters and clothes with what little hobby time I have, because I need the practice in modeling. I do have a game I want to build, I'm looking at building it for the Torque engine but it will take better modeling and texturing skills than I have. So, I figure I'll work on models for Poser for awhile, to improve my skills at modeling.

Sounds cool! Any chance you'll use that model of Liz for a Torque "Muse" game? A detective RPG would be interesting to try.

So, you going to start selling poser content on your web site? It's already built, why not see if someone will pay for it! If not, are we going to see a faun Muse?

So, you going to start selling poser content on your web site? Haven't decided yet. My modeling skills are still only average. Well, no. I built that model because I wanted the challenge and the learning experience.

Aye, you can sell art work. I think the ppl that buy it are indys. I've meet some indy coders that just buy artwork. You can sell seamless textures(easy to make) and a quick buck too. I was thinking about doing this myself.

You'd be amazed at the amount of free stuff available for Poser. Everything in that image is free downloads. Amazing.
