Page Thirty-Eight. Ancient Akkadian is part of the Northern Peripheral Semitic group of languages. It was spoken in Mesopotamia from about 3200 BC onwards. Ancient Akkadian had five noun cases, plus an unmarked form for the nominal predicate and the noun without grammatical relations. It also had stative verb forms conjugated with suffixes and two verbal forms with a prefixed actor marker for the imperfective and perfective.
