I would say invisibility is the best spell in the game, by far. It helped me more to beat the game than anything else. I am currently doing a speed run, single player, and this spell is nearly all I need to do it.
I say nearly, because there are three other spells that help a lot. Haste creature, Conjure Food and Summon Staff. But those four are really all the spells you need. In fact, if you only have these spells, you can win the game while your stats (confidence, precision, talent and mundane) are all still at 10. Well, technically you can't, because it is inevitable that you gain a little bit of experience. But you do not need any of that experience to win the game.
With invisibility, you have an easy solution to almost any difficult monster. Just ignore it. Are elder knights beating you up? Walk past them, there is no benefit in fighting them. Elder bishops? Same. The smart way to win the SP is not to fight.
There are only a few fights that cannot be avoided. Here are spoilers on how to beat all of them, without needing to gain any levels:
The Pyramid:
Walk into the middle of the enemy pack invisible, together with your friend Ursa. Pause the game, let Ursa reveal himself and set him to target weakest and attack freely. Unpause the game so that everyone focuses on Ursa, then pause the game again and reveal yourself to join the fight. Ursa can soak a lot of abuse, especially if he is loaded up with healing potions.
Wolves:
They are one of the very few monsters in the game that see invisible. Luckily, they are very weak and all standing in isolated positions at the start of the bridges to the airships. So approach them visible, let them run up to you and kill them, then cast invisibility and cross the level. Approach the wolves guarding the other bridge from the edge of the map, so that you do not wake up any dangerous knights or bishops.
The Queen:
Thanks to Kilarin for his guide, my method looks a lot like the one he posted.
Again, keep Mantri out of the fight and let Ursa help you. Set Ursa to "attack freely, target weakest". Equip the Arma Igneus and set yourself to ''attack freely, target strongest". They will be dead in about 3 seconds. Gotta love it when the queen smugly tells you that you're out of luck, when a huge bear and a knight with a machine gun are standing in front of her nose. ;D
The Ancient Knight:
Here, the haste spell will help. Cast it on yourself and on Ursa. Now equip the Arma Igneus and run up to the enemy together with the bear. Be sure to let Ursa lead you, so that everyone focuses on him. And again, set Ursa to "target weakest" and yourself to "target strongest".
The King:
Arma Igneus.. easy
One final note on the Arma Igneus. I used to think that you need high precision to use it effectively. This isn't the case. If you shoot from up close you will hit them anyway. And with Haste Creature, it's easy to get up close with high level knights etc, without danger of them hitting you.
