I'm very VERY sorry, i know there has been too much nagging about oriented stuff and how it's done - but i really don't get this one. Everyone says that it's real simple, but somehow it has surpassed me. I've made it without the "special" armor so far (i'm just getting to the area with the respawning black wolfs) but now the black knights are really starting to kill me with their mean scythes. I have maneged to make a bishop's scale (oriented) and a knights helm (oriented), so im not totaly behind - but a knight's oriented armor? The hauberk dont want to be improved on and neither does the studded leather armor or the manlista garmet or even the reinforced fur garment. Am i looking for a dress? The scale mail bikini also seems to restist my efforts (well atleast its not about to turn into a bishops outfit). Dont really know which mageworld version i got, if this matters (shouldn't though right?), but i would be thankful if someone would throw a bone. Sorry again about asking (i know your suppose to figure it out yourself) - but its a matter of life or death you know! It was a couple of years ago since i started the game (like five, six) so give in-game hints have probably been destroyed by my memory. Keeping good mood ;D

Mageworld uses a technology tree. Not linear improvement, per sé. Sometimes, upgrades can branch away from the linear path. It's not because you've reached the end of a line of upgrades, that you have also reached all possible upgrades that can be made from the first item in the line. Maybe you should take a few steps back on the improvement-ladder, and try improving it a different way. I hope this helps. Good luck

Thanks, im back on track now, guess i just needed a few encuraging words. Got very tired of this whole trial-and-error business for a while, and longed for a little logic - i am passed that now, for the moment at least. Made an augmented leather, not that i think that makes me any closer to creating something useful, but still ... gives me an illusion of progress!! Eh, concerning versions of MW, dont now which one i got but is it posible to download a newer one while in the middle of a game. Or will this screw the game up (guessing on it might be so), because then ill just forget it.

"If you have previous installations of Mageworld, you will need to REMOVE those files (the .dsmap and .dsres files, not your save games) before installing Mageworld 3.0." xaa.proboards44.com/index.cgi?board=mageworld&action=display&thread=181. Mageworld 3.0 is the latest version. .

How can it not matter that you're in the middle of a game when you change version? i mean wont the data in the save game and the new mod files clash? What if you're in an area that is different in the new version of if your wearing stuff that is no longer valid? "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is", or is it? (for i must say i have much belief in Xaa). But it would be kind of sad if my game was lost, sure i've only played for like 44 h, but still hours that precious to me (or the progress made during them anyway ). Sorry for the pessimism, some of us are just born on the wrong side ;D (and proud of it).

It will not affect any MultiPlayer savegames, but I do think it may break your Single Player savegame. Maybe not instantly, but there's a chance that by visiting a region you have visited before ( prior to updating versions ), your SP savegame will generate errors and crash, resulting in having to start anew.
Unless Xaa corrects me on this, I suggest you finish your SP game first, then upgrade to Mw 3.0 for MP fun. You should always be able to export old SP savegames to MP characters, so you can continue playing the new Mw with your old SP char in a MP game.
Good luck on the crafting effort.
Little hint : Maybe you should try to take a few steps back ?

Hm.. don't got no number on my file, maybe that means i got the original (crappiest) version of MW. Well i never thought that i had 3.0 anyway, i guess ill "just" finish the SP game and upgrade later (though this might take a year or so, quite posibly more). And about the hint: nice gesture, but why write it in black when you had already written "Maybe you should take a few steps back on the improvement-ladder, and try improving it a different way." plainly (in white) before. ? Oh, well ... matters little, i think im on to it now. You got to think about the gender, right? (still not letting go entirely of the logic path!) Such a pedagogical game! No such thing as a free meal, aye (or sometimes, but you get the point). .....got to get a good side bottom... ....eventually

You got to think about the gender, right? (still not letting go entirely of the logic path!) Yes. Oh, I put it in black for emphasis. Black suggests a possible spoiler, a fact that will make you stop think about other possible options. A little ago I only suggested it might be a possibility. Now, by putting it in black, it turned from suggestion into statement. Hint 1 ( small ) : NPC Knights all wear the Oriented Knights Armor, as far as I know.Hint 2 ( big ) : Oriented Armors not only have their amour value increased when your character gets stronger, it will also look stronger. The higher level the wearer, the more armour-like it will look ( ending in a articulated full plate ). Ergo, the lower level the wearer is, the closer it will look to the item used to originally craft it.

Figured it out! Even before you posted the hints. Hot and cold weather - here i come, you can't annoy me any more! The second one would have been a great help otherwise, since it was at that i was stuck. Thinking too massive, and believing that i could achieve the likes of that which others of "my" kind flaunted before me . "How would i make something like that, loads of iron?" Mine looks pretty (<-- meaning very, exremely) poor in its current state, might improve when i hit strengh 20 though. Hope im not writing anything too unsubtle, it felt like a bit overcautionous to black it. But still, you dont want to throw at people what they didn't ask for. Since this latest progress, armor and other, i now no longer agree that the game is user-unfriendly as someone once said - probably as a joke but anyways . Journeying to fetch me some robo-junk now, have it nice!

I was just wondering myself, does the superior oriented knights armor come in a full plate? I've managed to craft it but I'm not at the level for it yet.
