It should be a non-violent game that even the littlest of Xaafans can enjoy. A game without combat and foul language, but filled with little puzzles, shiny and sweet eyecandy and gingerbreadmen. Well, I don't know much about it, so don't take all I say about this for facts. But it is a project to make the kids happy. I think this all started when Kilarin's little one started begging to play Mageworld. And for kids his age, Xaa planned to make another siegelet, without forcing them to face the evils in the gameworld such as horrorific plots and big meanies and violence. Knowing Xaa, Candyland should even be fun for the rest of us, as wel as for our children (for those of us who have children, that is). *nudge, nudge* Xaa, you said you were going to remake the Gingerbreadman, how's that comming along ? If you're not started at it yet, is that because you need a break, because your books consume most of your time (which is good, as that may mean we are to get a few new Xaabooks soon) or have you finally (not that good, but it's believable due to the long time) become sick of DS ? Or am I being too nosy again ?

Actually, it started like this. Xaa had just posted an early copy of the Mageworld Eula. It contained the line: Xaa's Eula: To which I replied: Kilarin: I then posted (as a joke) a message stating that Xaa's NEXT mod was going to be based on a gingerbread man. Xaa got inspired, and said he just might do it. It came up in the conversation that Jesse (My son) had just turned 5 that day, so Xaa decided to buckle down and produced a gingerbread man model and used it to generate a "Happy Birthday" card for my son that Jesse STILL sometimes uses as the wallpaper on his computer. And Jesse (now six) STILL refers to Xaa as "That man with the rat who is making that gingerbread game!" You can read the whole conversation on SN here: www.siegenetwork.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=3369&st=2430entry71833I do not believe that Xaa has made any official anouncements that he has started on Candyland yet. And he certainly deserves a break after Mageworld. But he has at least two fans in my house anxiously awaiting Candyland whenever he happens to get to it.

The two things holding me back are this: 1) I have to plan a game that will be interesting to him at the time I finish it. If it takes me another two years, he'll be eight. 2) I am really REALLY tired of looking at skrit code right now, and my life is very busy. My hobby time is almost nonexistent at the moment.

Xaa: Absolutely! Thats why I said you deserved a break. A LONG break in my opinion! And, quite frankly, if and when you do get around to Candyland, you just don't have to worry about tailoring the Game for Jesse's age group. There is simply no way you are under any obligation to make this game for him! Make the game you want to make, for whatever age group you want to make it, and, in all likelyhood, he will still enjoy it. If you decided to move on to other things and never get around to Candyland at all, it's not the end of the world. You went way out of your way (and way above and beyond the call of duty) just creating the screen shot birthday card for him. He was thrilled. Anything else is just gravy. Don't let the fans (of ANY age) manipulate you.
