Anyone care to drop a hint on how to make a mace? Other than just keep trying, seems like I've tried practically everything.

Thanks, I'll just say "doh" and smack myself silly. The biggest advantages of maces is that they are very easy to make, and are easily improved. You can even enchant a mace. The only real disadvantage to them is that they can only effectively be used with sword & shield. They are, in essence, technologically advanced clubs, and aren't balanced for fencing.

If you see it, you can make it. (This does not include castles and houses, just equipment. )

(Since I don't know wether I'm right or wrong, I do not think of this a spoiler. If someone believes it to be one, tell me and I'll add some spoiler-taggs and such.)
The Morningstar was the most advanced of all flails, but there are no flails in Mageworld other than the Morningstar. A flail is a mace with a chain between the grip and the spiked weight.
I never even tried to craft it, but I think in order to make it, you'd have to keep trying to advance in the mace-industry. Keep upgrading the mace and try some different things as well. It's not always a one-way system, Xaa's crafting-tree. Sometimes you need a less sophisticated item than the last in line you have found.
As I said, I never tried crafting maces and it's kin because I am satisfied with my current equipment, but if I were to be looking how to make it, I'd be experimenting along the line of maces.
Good luck.

What is a morning star but a spiked mace with a chain added to it?

MANY of the recipies in Mageworld can be figured out by looking at physical clues on the item itself. Thats one reason Xaa arranged so that you could SEE them. So yes, it was a hint.

Kilarin answered your question, and as Kilarin knows from experience, most of my hints are questions. I like to make you think, before I give you the answer.
