I am in KR1 and am supposed to talk to the scribe. When I talked Nalrina the Scribe, he says "Bring Mantri to me, otherwise I do not have time to chat with you". However, Mantri is standing just beside me and Nalrina. In my Journal, it still says "Enter the tower and find the scribe". I am unable to complete the Journal entry even when I have talked to Nalrina the Scribe.
So, is this a bug, or am I doing something wrong? Thanks a lot for any help.

Have you tried moving him around? Loading a recent save and trying it again? That's a bug if you aren't doing something wrong somehow. I've played the game through multiple times and it worked just fine.

I have tried going down the elevators with Mantri and coming up again, but it does not help. I have even tried zoning out with Mantri by taking the airship to KR2 and then coming back, but Nalrina the scribe still think that Mantri is not with me.
I have spend 5 days playing this character, starting it from scratch after installing Mageworld 2.0. I would hate to restart again. I have tried various other recent saves, but it does not solve the problem. Xaa, can you advise please. This is a great game, and I am enjoying it as much as LoH. I am taking it slow, exploring every corner, killing every monster and every deer and that is why it took me 5 days to get to KR1. It will be a waste if I have to restart.

I don't know what the solution to this would be, then. If you like you can send me your savegame and I can fiddle around with it to see if I can get the quest to work, and then send it back to you. My email is aliquisdeus@hotmail.com
Also did you patch mageworld fully to version 2.0 before you started your game? I understand it can cause problems if you started with one version and patched to another without restarting.

I finally figured out what my problem was, and solved it. It seems that talking to Narina the Scribe is "time critical". I got the bug (scribe not recognizing Mantri) if I took too long to reach the scribe (ie I spend lots of time on the 2nd floor to learn *** for Greatsword and Sword&Shield). So I reload a much earlier version, went directly to the 3rd floor to talk to the Scribe and then everything is OK. I then go back down to the 2nd floor and learn my combat style.
BTW, I did install Mageworld 2.0 fully and then start the game with a fresh character, so there should be no "corruption" problems.

Glad you worked that out. I always complete my quest objective, then muck about. Just a habit really.
For anyone who's following this thread, you'll be interested to know that (as it alludes to in the readme) during training if you hold down shift right after the hand-to-chin animation (just beforee you hear the training bell and your character gets up) you will receive double the usual points. Ie. insteaf of going from 998 to 997 you would go down to 996. This makes quite a significant difference over the long run..shaving off a great deal of time. Whether your mana recovers fast enough to do this continuously is another matter..
