One of the more devastating things I have had to deal with is slowly losing my hearing. The 'why' of that is a rather long story, so I'll spare you. God forbid any of you should have to go through anything like that, but if you do, take heart! You can learn to lip read. I've gotten pretty good at it over the years - since my wife's voice falls within the range of frequencies I no longer hear well, I've learned to lip read quite well to be able to understand her. It's really fairly simple - here's an animated GIF to show you how easy it is. See? Simple. ;D

Simple, NOT! Sorry about your hearing loss. Both my son and wife have gotten hearing aids recently. They are expensive, but they do help. My Brother is experiencing high frequency hearing loss, my father is in hearing aids, my mother has tinnitus. I seem to be the only one in the family with no obvious impairments to his hearing. YET.

While I *am* losing my hearing, there is actually humor in the above post, and you missed it. Still, I figure if you keep watching the animation, you'll get it. Hint: She's saying two syllables, not four.

I was having trouble trying to match the lips to the words, but I gave up too soon. still took me a while. I kept trying to interpret the "smile" on the end as an long "A" or "E" sound, it's just a smile.

Well, perhaps a grin.
