How do you win this? Two knights, two bishops, I can't draw off the knights so the bishops can't pepper us, starting with arrows (Long composite longbow) then switching to sword and shield doesn't help. A lucky shot (or probably two) kills Mantri, and it's game over. I have the Knight's Armour, I have mail gloves and boots, I have a large shield and a knight's blade (or a greatsword, or a whip). My Confidence is 18, I believe, as is my precision, and I've mastered all the fighting schools to the third rank. Yes, I did spend a lot of time on the home rows; it seemed wise. The boots, the gloves and the shield are non-enchanted because I find far, far, far more runes of destruction than of protection.
Any suggestions? I'm getting very frustrated. And don't suggest making lots of health potions. I already have five in my inventory, and five and a bit in Mantri's. He has the dermal shield, too.

Perhaps... Hold Enemy + Lighting Bold ( stacked ) ? Or just Hold Enemy and then picking them off one at the time ? You could try to summon some help, too ? Sneak up to them and take them out before they even know what's going on ? Just trying to bludgeon/shoot your way through things isn't the way to go in Mageworld.

A lucky shot (or probably two) kills Mantri, and it's game over. I used to get this sorta thing alot but if you keep Mantri away from any action it helps. If you tell him to stop following you and tell him to hold his ground it can leave you free to stop worying about him.

I stopped letting Mantri fight very early on in the game (row 2) - once Pooka had the right spells to manage on her own. I really only use Ursa to help defeat the Black queen, but even then I had to load his inventory with healing potions.

Yep, I do the same. Ursa is very helpful in the queen fight, but other than that (and a bit at the very beginning) I leave the "friends" on the boat where they don't get hurt unless there is an important place that they need to be.
