Windows7 won't let me load Dungeon Siege..
a curse has been placed upon it by an evil compatibility wizard.. I am therefore exiled from Hyperborea for the foreseeable..
..unless we form a squad to storm Castle Microsoft!

I saw this fix on another board and it worked for me!
How to get Dungeon Siege running under Windows 7: Look in your "Documents" folder and there are folders marked Dungeon Siege and Dungeon Siege LOA. In both folders, there is an file called DungeonSiege.ini. The first line of the file probably is:
driver_description = Primary Display Driver - Hardware TnL
Remove the TnL and save the file. Repeat for the other folder.
Dungeon Siege should run normally now, WITHOUT using compatibility mode.
You could also run the DSVideoConfig utility and select a video mode without the TnL, but that only fixes Dungeon Siege.
This fix DOES work on my system!

oh yes..!! ;D
I managed to get DS1 and DSLOA installed in 64-bit at last!! it was probably all down to Crossfire in ATI gfx cards - switched it off, now..
I now have to figure out how to get LoH installed correctly.. I want to place it on drive E: alongside the DS main files, but have yet to figure out how to get it placed there..
- wow, I'm so happy..!! - MW and LoH are still the best mods around.. - must get this matter of installation resolved..
- BTW anyone know where to get LoU download, without getting viruses as well..!!?

Hiya Kilarin, how are you these days - I trust you are well....??
Installation in W7 64-bit was somewhat convoluted in my case, as I have upgraded to a monster set-up, comprising 6Gig of RAM and a partitioned 1TB HD and 2x60G SSD's I'm also running 2xATI 4890's in crossfire mode - though the crossfire has to be disabled for DS
I don't mind answering individual questions on installation, but to describe how it applies to my own set-up is probably a wee bit (ahem!) unconventional, given the hardware and all..
- it also involves using a no-CD crack, which is a first for me - now, I wouldn't normally advocate using this, indeed it goes against my better nature - but unfortunately it is essential, as the Checksum will trap any attempts to run DS/DSLOA..
- feel free to ask away though, and I will do my best to fill in the gaps..BTW: many thanks, kazairl - that is indeed part of the solution.. PS: Xaa, I've just realized - this is rather presumptuous of me - please let me know if this thread causes you any problems - the no-CD crack is a little wayward, and is only a desperate last-ditch measure by a sincere fan of your work..
- rest assured, I mean no harm, and apologise - if it causes you any offence, I will take the discussion elsewhere..

Hello! I'm fine, but my kid is having some health issues that are taking up much of my time. That's one of the reasons my responses have been a bit slow lately.
I hope you and yours a doing well!
I understand! When I get around to installing Windows 7, and then when I get around to installing DS, I might send you some questions, thanks!

Oh dear, I hope it is nothing serious - and yes, we are all well here.. - the elflings (- all five of them!) are growing up far too quickly..
- just thought I'd let you know that SiegeTheDay is hosting Tarkus' Hyperborea maps..
www.siegetheday.org/?q=node/1318 - they are extremely useful for navigating..
- all the best to you and yours..

Legg Calve Perthes. Serious, but temporary. He's been in a wheelchair for a year, and is likely to be in for another. Was stuck in a cast that pretty much immobilized him for 7 weeks, but now only has to wear a brace 12 hours a day, and that should be going down over the next year. Doc says that in about a year, he should be running and playing again.
2 years in a wheel chair is NOT too bad. There are kids who will NEVER get out of their wheel chairs on this earth, so I am very blessed. But its not easy on a 10 year old.
But kids are tough, he'll make it through just fine.
