Surprisingly wonderful series, though keeping him in that body so long... If Eddas were real I'd call Jim Farris cruel.
Anyway, some thoughts of how Eddas might solve his problem:
Do the first step of the "bring back to life" spell, creating a body identical to his original, develop a mind control spell that interacts more directly with the target providing sensory feedback (Seems possible in that universe considering the control over undead), and bam, He's himself again, though he'd still have to feed and water the raven body in case it's needed again.
Second, Raven's body is small, Eddas's is large, illusions can't cover raven, but a solid golem should be fine, have raven wear an "eddas" suit, a semi-golem, like a really small and fleshy semi-golem. Sounds gross, but I could see it working.
And finally, expand on the glass that allows one to see the soul to encompass touch along with the other senses, wouldn't really bring him back but would of course be of good use to Joy. This one of course would be the least plausible in the Mageverse.
